Welcome Members! LET
THE BUSY SEASON BEGIN! I'm not sure why this is: maybe it's because people are coming back inside and looking for a way to earn money in their spare time, maybe they are just trying to earn some money to pay for the upcoming holiday season, or maybe after years of conditioning in school systems, we are just ready to get down to work at the end of the Summer (US). Whatever the reason, it is in our best interest to make the most of this busy time. We will do this by advertising our hearts out in as many places as we possibly can. Don't forget what you learned in the last couple of months about testing ad copy, it's important. Don't waste your time placing useless ads, find out what makes people click and use that ad copy to it's fullest. Anyone who was not with us during the Summer (US) can check out the step by step instructions provided in recent Member Updates by going to the new Update Archive.
I have also added a very handy web page testing site to the Web Sites page. This service will alow you to test your web site's loading time and analyze your metatags all for free. Good news for Free Members is that I have made the wonderful link rater service available to all. I have used this service to help test ad copy and think that every online marketer should be using it; there is no substitue for live feedback regarding your ad copy. You will find it on your Marketing Tools Page within the Members' Area. I have also added Adland Pro as the best classifed site on the web. You'll find it on your Free Advertising page.
Once you have tested ad copy and know that you have ads that will draw some results with free advertising, you will certainly want to branch out into paid advertising. I have paid for advertising so far in the local paper and have earned much more than the ad cost. You must continue to analyze your results to be sure that you are not throwing your money away. Everyone (and their product) is different and will get the best response in their own way. If you have been using a particular safelist that has been getting results, then you might consider paying for the upgraded membership for that list. If you receive ezines or newsletters that the membership would be interested in your offer, you might consider placing a paid classified ad in it. I do not recommend paying for ads in ezines and newsletters that you do not personally read. There is no sense in advertising in a publication where the information is stale or difficult to read due to mispellings and typos. If you like a particular publication, chances are that others do, too. You want any paid ad to be in a spot that will be seen and read. I have found incredibly inexpensive banner advertising spots that I would recommend to anyone to try once. If you get good results, go for it again. If not, try something else, like a new banner or a new advertising method. Some paid classified ad spots can be very good and inexpensive. Consider large active sites like Yahoo! or AdlandPro where so many people are interested in the ads and read them regularly. Again, experiment! If you do not get the desired results, change your ad or advertising method. Do not pay for a list of email addresses or send SPAM at all. The penalties for SPAM these days are just too stiff to risk it. And the return is questionable when sending ads out to people who have demostrated no interest in your product. (Anyone who tells you differently is trying to sell you something.) Remember, when the "gurus" say that email advertising is the most effective form of online advertising, they are talking about emailing to their own opt-in list. Create your own opt-in list by offering something of value to surfers so that they will give you their email address, such as a free gift or informative free report. Forums and discussion lists that relate to your product can be wonderful places to advertise and they are always free. Even local businesses can advertise online, but it is in their best interest to trade links with related local sites or use forums and discussion lists with a local focus. There is no sense in advertising across the whole world about your fabulous restaurant with only one location. THE
END Right now, with the busy season upon us, I must turn my focus back to promoting ONE STOP. I do plan to release The Birth of an Internet Business as an ebook shortly before Thanksgiving. :)
